Pickleball Grip Size Guide: How to Measure Yours

3 min read

Grip size is easy to overlook and easy to fix. The right size lets you hold the paddle loosely for spin and control, while the wrong size tires your forearm and costs you power. Here is how to find yours.

Why grip size matters

Too small and you squeeze the handle to keep it steady, which tightens your arm and invites soreness. Too large and you cannot snap your wrist for spin or react quickly at the net. The right size sits comfortably without effort.

The finger test

Hold the paddle in your normal grip. Slide the index finger of your other hand into the gap between your fingertips and the base of your thumb. It should fit snugly. If there is no room, the grip is too small. If there is extra space, it is too large.

When in doubt, size down

SOLA SPIN paddles come in thin, standard, and thick grips, and our tacky overgrips let you fine-tune the size and feel in seconds. Start a touch smaller and build up to exactly what your hand likes.
